About Us
Libby Saeger
I am a life-long artist and maker and became an Art Teacher in 2007. I studied Art History at Colorado College and I taught in public elementary schools for years and was the Colorado Elementary Art Teacher of the Year in 2013. After becoming a mother in 2014, I was lucky to able to spend many years as a stay-at-home-mom, all the while making all sorts of art and objects with and for our family.
I am an avid sewist: I love to make quilts and I make most of the clothes I wear.
I am passionate about using up-cycled fabrics in my work (mostly thrifted yardage and bedsheets) and I want to empower you to create the clothes and home items you want in your life.
I also dearly love to teach ceramics to children and I dream of adding a kiln to our scrappy little studio some day soon.
I can’t wait to welcome you and your children to Scrap Bin Studio!
Mimi Shim
I have been sewing and creating clothing and anything else you can make with fabric and a sewing machine since I was 12 years old. This passion has led me to move around the country following a dream, school, and fashion design jobs. I studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, worked as a fashion designer in Los Angeles and then New York City for 10 years. I moved back to Denver (I grew up here!) to be closer to family, after my son was born in 2015.
During this time, I got back to sewing and creating my own and son’s clothes, quilts, and anything using fabric and a sewing machine, rather than having other people across the world make my designs. After some time, a business grew out of what now is Mimi Shim Studio, where I design, develop patterns, and sew small batch production for local Denver clothing companies. I also started teaching sewing lessons and workshops, and I am so excited to be sharing my knowledge with you and your children in hopes to inspire future artists, makers, designers, and creatives.
